In recent decades, the effects of climate change have become increasingly tangible in Trieste. Negative impacts on terrestrial and marine ecosystems, along with extreme weather events such as flooding and heatwaves, are causing ever more significant damage to the environment, public infrastructure and facilities, economic activities, and the health of local residents. In this context, sharing scientific knowledge about the ongoing transition, and promoting awareness-raising and engagement initiatives involving both local authorities and the civil society, are becoming increasingly urgent in order to be better prepared to face current and future challenges.
Let’s change! aims to contribute to an open discussion by sharing studies and reflections developed by researchers from the Department of Engineering and Architecture and the University of Trieste, in collaboration with public authorities, associations, and citizen groups. The topics are wide-ranging: from sustainable mobility to the energy transition; from designing more comfortable, inclusive, and resilient urban environments to the renovation of the built estate; from reimagining the city’s waterfront to reshaping open spaces and landscapes to withstand water and heat. With your help, we can identify further topics to explore, thanks to the suggestions you will share with us by filling in the Let’s change! questionnaire. |
